A rant from the heart.

I have been so busy lately; I have been unable to write. I have been so cluttered in my mind; I haven’t been able to focus. I’ve been so tired, emotional, physically, mentally… just exhausted. Worst of all, I have been so involved in this fight against human trafficking in the U.S that my heart felt numb. This is a problem because when you feel desensitized to something, you forget where that passion began. You forget why you fight, you start to have symptom of secondary trauma or PTSD.  I had been feeling this way for a while but after seeing a film called “Sex + Money a national search for human worth”, my heart was broken all over again for this girls.

I felt emotions again that I have not felt in a very long time, I felt anger; the good kind. I felt empowered to tell more people, to fight like I never have before. So, here I am writing again. I have to admit, it feels good.

Let the rant begin:

Why is it that we advocate and fight for animal rights but we do not stand up for HUMAN BEINGS? These human beings are bought, sold, traded like a product. They are locked in cages and forced to have sex with 20-40 men a day. This happens in the U.S every single day, that’s right I said in the United States of America.

So my question to you is, “What are you going to do about it?” Why do we ignore this? Why do turn a blind eye to this?

We will give a stray animal food and sometimes shelter but we pass that same homeless man every single day and try our hardest not to look him in the eye. We feel that conviction in our hearts but we wouldn’t dare act on it.

Why is it that we spend on average $8,000 on a Iraqi citizen in the war we are fighting but only $4 on the average American victim of sex trafficking.

There is an estimated 100-300,000 US children currently being bought and sold on American soil.  How is this acceptable?  At a minimum they service 5 clients per day but the average is close to 20. At a minimum that is a half a million rapes of minors PER day in the U.S That is somebodies baby girl, that is someone’s grand daughter, someone’s friend.

Another interesting fact is there is less than 100 beds in the United States designated for victims of trafficking who are in dire need of restoration services.  So, even if we DID rescue them; where would they go? Most likely to jail because no one knows what to do with them. We are criminalizing these victims. We lock them up for prostitution when in any other case they would not be of age to consent to sex. Usually, their pimps are free to run the streets looking for their next prey.

Could someone please tell me why? Why are we ignoring this? Why is it like pulling teeth to get people to support the fight against modern day slavery? Why do we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertisement for animal rights? PETA, SPCA, ect?

We won’t fight for our own brothers and sisters in Christ.

I really would like someone to tell me why, because if someone can give me a justifiable reason than maybe I could stop being so angry when I find these statistics. When I see these movies, and when I read another book about girls locked in a cage used for sex and pimped out by their mothers.

I am begging and pleading, please join me in this fight. It doesn’t matter what your education is. It doesn’t matter your age. You have a voice and a gift, that is more than these girls have. USE IT. Let me help you use it, I promise to do all I can help you join this fight. Because you are significant, you are able, and you need to stand up with me and say “NO MORE”.

Anyone? Anyone?
